- Abstract
The aim of the article is to identify the key characteristics of the linguistic representation of the image of Siberia in Finnish-language publicistic discourse from the position of interlinguacultural approach. The study material consisted of contexts selected from the corpus of YLE TV and radio news texts by the solid sampling method (775 contexts). In the course of the analysis all the contexts were categorized into thematic groups representing different perspectives of Siberia: 1) Siberia as a geographical region; 2) Siberia as a place of exile; 3) Siberia as a climatic characteristic; 4) the unit Siberia as part of a name; 5) the unit Siberia as part of a phraseology. The article presents the linguistic characteristics of each of the thematic groups, including the representation of toponyms, anthroponyms and other culturonyms, which are specific markers of Russocentric discourse. The analysis of frequent collocations by thematic groups allows us to draw preliminary conclusions about the tone of the contexts. The data of automatic sentiment-analysis, partially confirming the preliminary observations, testify to the neutral tone of the contexts representing the image of Siberia.
