Abstract

The necessity of a comparative study of the pragmatic aspect of the use of precedent names is due to the constant change in their communicative functions in the media space because of globalization and intercultural exchange. The study of precedent names is one of the vectors of the anthropological turn in modern humanities. The aim of this research is a comparative study of the functions and purposes of the use of precedent phenomena in the media discourse of Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom. This study employed the following methods: functional- pragmatic and semantic analysis, as well as contextual, comparative, and synthetic- analytical methods. This work can be used for comparing the media systems of Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom, studying the pragmatic, communicative, and functional aspects of the introduction of anthroponyms in journalistic texts, and researching the functioning of various structural elements for different communicative purposes
