- Abstract
In the aspect of international cooperation, the educational and scientific activities of the Institute of the Peoples of the North at Herzen University, a leading center for humanitarian Northern Studies in the Russian Federation, are considered. It is known in the country and in the world as a university, which has been conducting targeted training of highly qualified teachers in the field of languages and cultures of the indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East since 1930. The Institute of the Peoples of the North provides training of specialists for all the northern regions of Russia: Yamal, Taimyr, Yakutia, Buryatia, Sakhalin, Chukotka, Kamchatka, Khabarovsk Territory, etc. Students and postgraduates representing more than 20 ethnic groups study here – Evenks, Evens, Nenets, Ents, Nganasans, Selkups, Veps, Dolgans, Chukchi, Koryaks, Yukaghirs, Nivkhs, Nanais, Ulchi, Udege, Sami, etc. The Institute of the Peoples of the North, along with extensive educational, methodological and educational work, carries out active international activities and cooperation with colleagues from many countries of the world. These are Hungary, Norway, Finland, Germany, France, Japan and others. In recent years, international scientific and educational contacts with the countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America have been intensively developing, especially with China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, etc. Joint scientific conferences, seminars, student Olympiads are held; articles, monographs and textbooks are published
