- Abstract
The relevance of this article is related to the need to study new forms of art – in this case, robotic art. The purpose of the study is to examine the features of contemporary robotic art using the example of the work “Can’t help myself” (2016–2019) by Chinese artists Sun Yuan and Peng Yu. The study examined the features of the artistic method of the creative duo Sun Yu and Peng Yu, identified the themes and artistic techniques characteristic of them. An analysis of the representative work showed that it suggests a dual reading: on the one hand, the work can be read in the context of contemporary socio-political issues (world conflicts, migration problems in China, a large amount of meaningless labor, etc.); on the other hand, the work allows a person to identify with a robot, empathetically showing sympathy and pity towards it
