Abstract

The food market of Siberia is assessed on the base of a comparative analysis of the food market development of the main world centers of its production as well as its possibilities to produce food products to provide the growing population with provision regarding the rapid growth of population in the countries of the Asia-Pacific Region. It is shown that the rates of food production growth in the world and in some regions (the USA, EU, Asia-Pacific Region, South America, etc.) is ahead of the population growth though about a billion of people feel hungry when more than a billion of people have overconsumption. This ratio is going to be kept in the near future. The following countries have the possibilities for further food production growth – South America, Australia, New Zealand, India, EU, the USA, Canada, Russia and others. Siberia as one of the world resource regions has significant resources of arable lands, agricultural areas and enormous reserves of fresh water that allows forming the large food productions here. In the article the possibilities of Siberia as the leading world region for increasing the traditional food production for the earth growing population are considered. The first stage of such development is considered to be the processing of green wild useful plants such as berries, mushrooms, nuts, and medicinal plants as well as their export to the world centers of consumption including the countries of the Asia-Pacific Region
