Abstract: Some evolutional aspects of the institution currently known as SibSAU are considered as an example to examine changes in the integrated system of the engineer training on the way from planned to market economy. The results of the analysis of labor market requirements to technical high-school alumnae are presented, and the technique to calculate the students competence level is proposed. Prospects of some pedagogical technologies expected to increase graduates competency are discussed.
