- Abstract
The purpose of the article is to describe design as a direction of artistic practices. The design code concept is presented as a way of constructing the relationship between the performer and the audience in a dance media performance. Modern dance emerged in the late 19th century as a reaction to changes in culture and art. Technological progress has inspired many artists and researchers. Attempts to describe the mode of human existence in the technological world led to the emergence of the philosophy of “presence” developed by H. W. Gumbrecht and other post-structuralist philosophers. The development of design as an interdisciplinary way of implementing project activities contributes not only to the establishment of organic interaction between a person and the outside world, but is an important link in the development of new areas of art, in particular, multimedia performance. Interactive consoles used in media performances make it possible to construct a space for communication between performers and viewers in real time. Design practices in dance media performance supports the idea of “presence” as a new area of research in artistic communication
