Abstract

It is impossible to introduce innovations into any sphere of life without a specific person. The purpose of the article is to consider the innovative potential of a university teacher’s personality as a necessary quality in the context of digital transformation of education. Based on the system-anthropological, activity-based and subject-activity approaches, the psychological components of the innovative potential of the individual are highlighted. The paper clarifies the components of the innovative potential of a personality; presents a comparative analysis of the empirical study results. A comparative analysis of the data obtained showed significant differences on the “Readiness for Change” scale, where significant differences were found between groups of young teachers and teachers with experience (p ≤ 0.004). Among young teachers who are actively involved in research and project activities, the indicators of initiative, activities requiring innovativeness and the general level of psychological readiness for innovation exceed these indicators for trainee teachers. There was a tendency to differ in the two study groups and on the basis of “Readiness for Change” (p = 0.066). In the context of the digital transformation of education, these results are important for understanding the organization of the educational process and realizing the important role of both young teachers and teachers with long work experience
